Leakage of air or water into the condenser can adversely affect both plant efficiency and equipment life.  High rates of air inleakage can contribute to turbine disk cracking and may create high levels of dissolved oxygen (DO) in the feedwater system.  Extremely high inleakage rates can reduce condenser vacuum and increase turbine back pressure leaking to an overall loss of efficiency
